Yates in Reading could see major changes including live dance performances and longer opening hours

Stonegate Group have submitted an application to make vital changes to the Yates in the center of Reading.

The group wishes to extend the license of its premises in order to be able to remain open longer and to be authorized to carry out many activities.

The planning app lists Yates as “Slug & Lettuce (currently known as Yates)”, which also suggests a name change could be on the cards.

However, the biggest change that has been proposed so far is that of an extended premise license

Currently, the Yates in central Reading closes at 11pm Monday to Thursday, and on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays the venue closes at midnight.

However, the demand for new premises requires that the place be open from 8 am to 12 pm from Sunday to Thursday and from 8 am to 2 am from Friday to Saturday.

Other proposed changes include in-house movies from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

The band also requested to have live indoor music until midnight Sunday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. Friday through Saturday.

A request for recording of music and dance performances has also been made for these specific periods.

A Stonegate Group spokesperson could not confirm whether the name of the venue would change, but said they were considering “alternative options” for the business.

They said: “As part of our ongoing review of our domain, we often consider alternative options for our businesses.

“There is currently no time frame for any potential Yates switch to Reading.”
