Dancer Vaishnavi Patil is a Pune-based entertainer who has appeared in many dance reality shows. She was recently hired to shoot a video of herself dancing to a song by Lavani at the premises of Lal Mahal, Pune.
Popular dancer and choreographer Vaishnavi Patil, famous for her dance duo with Faisal Khan, was recently booked along with 2 others for allegedly shooting a Lavani video inside Lal Mahal in Pune. The monument is of historical significance as the childhood place of Maratha hero Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The dancer has been criticized by public and local leaders for performing a ‘sultry’ dance such as Lavani in the monument and an FIR under Sections 295 and 198 of the Indian Penal Code has been filed against her and 2 others.
Who is Vaishnavi Patil?
Vaishnavi was born on May 20, 1999 to a Maratha family. She has always been into dancing and in 2008 she took part in the dance reality show boogie woogie season 4 judged by Javed Jaffari. She won season 4 and returned to boogie woogie season 5 as wild card and won it again. She then participated in another children’s reality show DID Little Masters in 2010 and became the 2nd runner-up. She came back to DID Little Masters in season 4 in 2018 but this time as a team leader and her team’s contender won the trophy that season.
Vaishnavi participated in other dance performances as a choreographer working and training behind the scenes. She participated in Jhalak Dikhla Jaa season 8 in 2015 with Faisal Khan and the duo won the title that year. She has also won shows like India’s Got Talent, Dholkichya Talavar, Etv Super Dancer and Nachle Ve. Since then, she has worked in numerous shows and dance platforms as a dancer and choreographer. She also started a dance academy in Kothrud, Pune with her sister Girija. She is often seen posting her dance and collaboration videos on social media.
Vaishnavi recently shot a Lavani video at Lal Mahal, a protected historical monument in Pune, Maharashtra, after which an FIR was filed against her for hurting public feelings as the monument is where Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj spent his childhood. Vaishnavi took to her social media to post an apology video saying her intentions were not to hurt anyone’s feelings and that she deleted the video.
