Jey calls it ‘Hybrid Bharatham’. In a tweet, she said, “I call it #HybridBharatham and it’s my way of switching between Hip-Hop and Bharathanatyam, 2 dances I love, learn and respect. My goal is to keep the essence of every dance and create something that does justice to who I am.

The video opens with three dancers in traditional Bharatanatyam attire dancing to Lil Wayne’s Uproar, then switching between Bharatanatyam and Hip-Hop — so seamlessly it almost feels like a single dance form.

I’m usually against such experiments but this one is great.
Impeccable choreography.
Good job to the dancers for performing it without cringe.https://t.co/XGBJCKAymM— ג׳יקוב | |یعقوب | ജേക്കബ് | Jacob (@Jacobji01) May 24, 2022

I knew your talent was special from the first day I saw you play in London and then Swizz. Both shows you have been amazing and I’m glad the world is catching up with your greatness. YOU ARE AN INSPIRATION TO ALL TAMILS IN THE WORLD ❤

Great! This is a true fusion, not what usually passes for it. The changing facial expressions and body language of the performers, the fluid mixing of dance moves from different cultures – it’s rare, beautiful and fun to boot! @Usha_Jey ❤️👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🙏🏽 https://t.co/6d3Ap3RqL0
