Two captivating dance performances are coming to the Capstone Theater in Liverpool in October.
The city’s iconic multi-arts venue offers an exciting program of varied entertainment throughout the fall/winter season, including two very special evenings of stunning choreography.
What songs can do is the highly anticipated first full-evening production by award-winning choreographer, former National Dance Company Wales dancer and artistic director of Rendez-Vous dance Mathieu Geffré. Revealed by the songs of Nina Simone, this October 19 duet at The Capstone will expose – with unabashed passion – the fractured relationship of a once-romantic couple as they delve into their past in an attempt to rebuild their future together.
Through Simone’s music, this dance piece highlights our deep-rooted connection to memories through music and offers the power of what songs can do. Poetic, passionate, physical and emotional, What songs can do… is an inclusive dance piece that celebrates love in all its diversity.
Your heart is too strong is a new dance work about love, loss, memory and resolution – performed by a group of extraordinary dance artists.
The show examines what it means to live fully in the present moment and asks: what could we change if we only had months, weeks, days left to live?
The October 26 piece at Capstone will explore our search for joy and our desire to connect, looking at the end of things and the edge of new beginnings – with tenderness, honesty and humor.
The Capstone Theater is a stunning concert hall for leading national and international musicians, with a dynamic multi-arts program including concerts by some of the best local musicians, spoken word events, radio shows, plays, dance performances and film screenings.
