Dance performances

Featured student dance shows online

The 40th Annual Bainbridge Dance Center Student Performance will take place online this year from June 17-19.

Each evening at 6 p.m., a pre-recorded video of a performance will be posted on their website at www.bainbridgedancecenter.com. Each night’s schedule will be different and the videos will be available for two weeks after their premiere.

June 17 will feature music and dance, ballet, modern, tap and jazz lessons. June 18 will present works created by student choreographers.

On June 19, the premiere of the Paquita ballet performed by the dancers of the Advanced Ballet Repertory will take place. Set in Spain during the occupation of Napoleon’s army, Paquita tells the story of a young girl who wins the love of the young French officer, Lucien d’Hervilly, when she saves his life. Kidnapped in her childhood, Paquita discovers a medallion which proves that she is of noble birth and that she can marry Lucien.

The suggested donation of $ 15 per viewer is used for scholarships.

Island tradition since 1981, BDC shows highlight the development of young dancers over the years of training. Students aged 3 to 20 will demonstrate their artistic talent. The dancers continued to grow during a year of challenges and hardships due to COVID-19.

There are also outdoor shows by class level for a small audience. Call BDC at 206-842-1497 for more details.
